How to Find Which User Is Logged into QuickBooks

Determining which user is using QuickBooks can be found several ways but in order to log into to most QuickBooks versions it requires some kind of log-in information. Typically a user name and password is required. Once logged in you can also find which user is operating QuickBooks.

Finding which user is using QuickBooks

Start by going to the home or if you can see the file at the top left of the QuickBooks application then click on file. When the menu drops down select close company or logoff. Then when you log back on it should have the most recent user name stored in the user box. Don’t do this unless you know the user name passwords or you’ll be logged out and unable to log back in.

Go back to file and switch your QuickBooks to Multi-User Mode. This will allow other users to use your QuickBooks software if you’re on a shared network. Now at the very top of the page it should say (multi-user)(Admin) or the user name. This is the easiest way to determine which user is actually logged in and currently using QuickBooks.

Switching back to single user mode changes the top screen to say just the company file name and the version of QuickBooks that you are using. If you still need help with figuring out which user you or logged in as then contact you’re Administrator or Intuit QuickBooks support.
